Paris Ile de la Cité Mission 2040
The book Paris Île de la Cité Mission 2040, by Norma Editions, traces the history of the heart of Paris and the planning of tomorrow by relying on archival documents, sketches, engravings, maps and photographs.
In December 2015, François Hollande, the French President, entrusted Philippe Bélaval, President of the Centre des
monuments nationaux and Dominique Perrault, architect, membre de l’Institut, a mission of study and guidance on what could
be the Ile de la Cité by 2040. 35 proposals bring up urban, cultural, tourist and environmental issues in whom the Island has
to answer to become again the living heart the capital.
Dominique Perrault, French architect and urban planner, is laureate of the imperial Praemium and member of the Académie
des beaux arts de l’Institut de France. He is a professor at the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne (EPFL) and has
realized many large-scale architectural projects that have seated its international legitimacy.
Philippe Bélaval is a senior French official, president of the Centre des monuments nationaux since 2012. Holder of a master
of public law, graduated from the Institute of Political Studies of Toulouse, former director of the Opera de Paris and the
Bibliothèque Nationale de France, he is a member of the Conseil d’État since 1979.
