The Vertical City monography has been developed in the framework of the international consultation for the renovation of the Montparnasse Tower.

The book presents the concept about the metamorphosis of the Montparnasse Tower developed by Dominique Perrault. This building contributes to the construction of a sustainable city; the architect proposes the idea of a Paris like an international metropolis by combining political vision, imagination and savoir-faire. He develops a resolutely architectural ensemble looking to the future, demonstrating that it is possible to build high-rise buildings that are responsible, resilient, economical and perfectly integrated with the environment. Respecting the same footprint of the existing tower the project goes beyond the question claimed by increasing the surfaces with an extension, issuing the tower to more than 300 metres and diversifying the program.
