The architect's furnishing 1960-2020

Exhibition- Cité de l'architecture & du patrimoine May 29th - September 30th 2019

The "Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine" presents a new exhibition dedicated to the furniture of architects and specifically to the works and creations of the greatest figures of the architectural realm of the past 60 years. The latter period is usually less exhibited unlike currents such as the Vienna Secession, Art Deco, the Bauhaus or the Modern movement.
The exhibition gathers prototypes, unique pieces, limited editions or pieces of large series and unfolds itself all over the museum, from the galleries filled with permanent collections to the library. The scenography undertaken by Adrien Gardère studio allows the opening of a dialogue between contemporary design and works of art within the permanent collections of the museum.

More than 90 publishers and 125 architects including Dominique Perrault and Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost are represented within the exhibition and it hence enables the discovery of works made by the core figures and personnalities of architecture of the previous decades : David Adjaye, Ron Arad, Shigeru Ban, David Chipperfield, Odile decq, Charles & Ray Eames, Norman Foster, Sou Fujimoto, Franck Gehry, Zaha Hadid, Marc Held, Steven Holl, Tokyo Ito, Jacob + MacFarlane, Michele de Lucchi, Angelo Mangiarotti, Jean Nouvel, Verner Panton, Gaetano Pesce, Rudy Ricciotti, Aldo Rossi, Sanaa, Superstudio, Carlo Scarpa, Ettore Sottsass...

This exhibition curated by Lionel Blaisse, former architect, author and journalist, in association with Claire Fayolle, journalist and professor specialized in design, assisted by Christine Blanchet, art historian.
