DPA-X, the research lab at Dominique Perrault Architecture presents an installation at the Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture in Shenzhen and Hong Kong. This edition of the Biennale, entitled “Urban Interactions”, will discuss the effects of digital technologies in the built environment.
DPA-X’s
installation will display the Gangnam Intermodal Transit Center in Seoul,
Korea, the winning project of a 2017 international competition won by the firm.
In this project, multiple services will be built underground, under one of the
most important avenues of the new business district of the South-Korean
capital. It will also connect to other existing buildings. A public place and a
light beam will be the only two visible elements at ground level.
Through
this installation, DPA-X aims at showing that underground intermodal poles not
only materialize the connectivity of the digital age, they also represent a new
type of architectural object that will further be developed in the years to
come.
