Awarding of the Jacques Rougerie Foundation architecture prizes

Dominique Perrault, member of the jury, took part in the 9th edition of the Jacques Rougerie Foundation competition. The Foundation awarded nine winners at a beautiful prize-giving ceremony at the Institut de France on January 22nd, in the presence of Mr Franck Riester, french Minister of Culture, Mr Xavier Darcos, Chancellor of the Institut de France and Mr Jacques Rougerie, architect.

The prizes awarded by the Foundation reward the audacity of projects that meet the challenges facing humanity, such as climate change and rising sea levels, also through the development of a habitat of the future, under the sea or in space.
The nine winners were nominated in three categories :
- "Architecture, design and technology for the sea" / 1st Prize : Karst / Paul Laminie and Isaac Barbet (France)
- "Architecture and issues of the sea level rise" / 1st Prize : Coast Breaker Community / Alejandro Moreno (Mexico) and Charles Chiang (Taiwan)
- "Architecture, design and technology for the space" / 1st Prize : Lavatopia / Haerim Park (China) and Ruohan Zou (Republic of Korea)
