DPA studio has been selected by Goldman Sachs/Altafund and ACE to refurbish the Pascal Towers

La Défense

The aim of the project is to refurbish the building itslef and also have an impact on its relation to the public space. DPA will lead the Pascal Towers to contemporary energy performances and improve its image according to La Défense Business District evolution. The completion is planned for 2019.

The towers were built in 1983 by Henri La Fonta in order to accomodate IBM France Headquarters. Today they are dedicated to the Ministery of  Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy.

In 1988 the Voltaire Tower which is quite similar, was built, closing the "Place des Degrés" thus creating a substansive South gate to the Business District. In relation to the urban development of the "Rose de Cherbourg", this entry tends to have a significant part in La Défense.

"While working within the outline of the facade, we propose to create a glass dress, consisting in a mosaic of panels placed at a short distance of the façade. These panels would be a formidable tool box, allowing the exploration of several possible configurations in terms of geometry and materiality."
