FUKOKU TOWER

Its broad base, anchored in the ground like a network of roots, extends its reach into a series of underground shopping malls. In the lower section, the rough texture of the façade evokes the rough bark of a century-old tree, reinforced by a crescendo of inlaid mirrors that reflect and diffract the reflections of the sky and the Osaka landscape. This base gradually gives way to a smooth, taut skin at the top, like a young tree in full growth. At the heart of the building, a vast atrium immerses visitors in a modern stained-glass window evoking the image of a forest landscape, extending the plant metaphor. The tower has become a landmark at the exit of Osaka’s main train station.
