The transformation of the Montparnasse Tower embodies an architectural manifesto seizing the unique opportunity to shape a vertical, energy-positive city, alive day and night, in the heart of Paris.
PROGRAM
The project to transform the Montparnasse Tower, designed in 1973 by architects Jean Saubot, Eugène Beaudouin, Urbain Cassan, and Louis de Hoÿm de Marien, involves creating a vertical E+ positive energy city, accommodating a variety of uses (offices, shops, housing, etc.), as well as tourist attractions including a hotel, a restaurant, and a viewing platform.

DESCRIPTION
By increasing the surface area and height while respecting the existing footprint, the project breaks with the repetitiveness of the plateaus and introduces a diversity of programs. The addition of a slender 300-meter tower, merged with the existing structure on one side, increases the total surface area from 100,000 to 135,000 square meters. Inside, structural recesses create double-height spaces, balconies, and loggias, providing openings onto the city. The transformed tower offers a new symbolic dimension to the metropolis, affirming its international status.
