Storefront - Dominique Perrault participates in the “Letters to the Mayor” Exhibition
The gallery for Art and Architecture Storefront, from New York, presents the exhibition “Letters to the Mayor” at the Seoul Biennale of Architecture.“Letters to the Mayor” is an itinerant
exhibition which presents letters written by architects to the Municipality of
certain cities. Currently exhibited at the Seoul Biennial of Architecture and
Urbanism, the project was previously presented in Athens, Bogota, Buenos Aires,
Lisbon, Madrid, Mariupol, Mexico, New York, Panama City, Sao Paulo, Taipei and
Taichung. This year, the exhibition in Korea is directed both to the
representatives of Seoul and Pypnyang. Each edition of "Letters to the
Mayor" invites a hundred local and world architects to address both to the
politicians and to the public consciousness, it is replaces the architect to the
heart of the political arena in his capacity to be new proposal for the
improvement of public life. Dominique Perrault sent a letter to Seoul's Mayor
Park Wonsoon, thanking him for the opportunity to create an architectural
manifesto in his city, the Ewha Women's University campus.The architect invites
Park Won-soon, Seoul’s Mayor, to question the importance of the soil and the
link between architecture and nature for the future of metropolises. Taking the
form of an exhibition and a series of public debates between architects, mayors
and citizens, "Letters to the Mayor" opens a discussion on the future
