Floating like a cloud above the avenue connecting the south and north sides of the campus, the Teaching Bridge is the tallest building on campus. This bridge-like structure, composed of a series of modules whose subtle interplay of solids and voids creates a pixelated effect, houses laboratories and teaching spaces dedicated to research.
PROGRAM
Multi-level footbridge built above Avenue Picard, bringing together teaching spaces, part of EPFL’s central services, laboratories for the School of Engineering, and a neuroprosthetics center.

DESCRIPTION
In order to encourage informal exchanges between researchers, its layout adopts an atypical organization, far from the classic layout where a corridor leads to a series of partitioned rooms. Here, spaces intersect, overlap, and communicate with each other thanks to a series of terraced terraces. This layout reflects an innovative educational vision, one of open-plan learning in constant flux, which EPFL places at the heart of its academic project.
