The Technical Center for Books (CTLes) is a conservation tool shared by university libraries in the Paris region for part of their scientific collections.
PROGRAM
The Technical Center for Books (CTLes) is a public administrative institution shared between the National Library of France, the Ministry of Secondary Education and Research, and private service providers. It offers university libraries in the Île-de-France region remote storage and communication services for scientific collections. The CTLes operates as a regional depository library, equipped with surveillance and conservation facilities, and also hosts storage activities, as well as spaces dedicated to training and research.

DESCRIPTION
It is located close to the A4 motorway and the RER A line, which connects the new town of Marne-la-Vallée to central Paris in less than thirty minutes. The buildings constructed during the first phase are located along the western edge of the site, allowing for future extensions to the north, south, and east.

The main axis of the overall plan is a covered interior street, along which the workshops and stores are arranged. Perpendicular to this covered street, to the north, a series of parallel buildings house the workshops, offices, meeting rooms, and classrooms, while the storage modules are located on the other side of the interior street. The facades, which are 9 meters high for the workshops and 15 meters high for the storage blocks, are clad with aluminum panels, some solid, others equipped with adjustable slats. The alternation of these panels creates a kinetic effect that animates the volumes. The interior street is topped by a glass roof, which provides natural lighting from above.
