WOMEN’S UNIVERSITY EWHA
SEOUL
SOUTH KOREA, 2004-2008
EDUCATION
PR–355
The project recreates the original topography that disappeared when the campus was built and creates a natural link between the university valleys and the Korean capital: by incorporating a vast esplanade grafted onto the city, it conceals the building under a hill crowned with a park.
PROGRAMME
Founded in 1886, Ewha Women’s University now has around 25,000 elite female students and a campus covering 59 hectares. Incorporating a vast public esplanade connected to the city, the Campus Valley (ECC) project covers 70,000 m² and houses a mixed program, both academic (classrooms, lecture halls, library, computer rooms, study rooms, and public reception and meeting areas) and administrative (offices and service rooms), as well as numerous related services for users.
