The Contemporary Art Creation Centre will be realized in the Miraflores park, beside the Rem Koolhas’ convention centre. The Centre will host the new manners of the Art Creation, it will be open to the city and will keep it’s production.
The project is an urban and a radical architectonic thought and discret at the same time; a slit, a fold, like a Land Art work. Two triangular elements both oppose and complete each other. The first is a huge plaza that leads to the center entrance, laid out on one floor at ground level. The second is the covering, which rises to form a fold, and becomes a stand where visitors can walk. Thus, the architecture disappears, is transformed in an urban landscape, a huge public place given to the city.
Visitors are led by an almost imperceptible transition from the urban public space towards the interior. From the plaza, one approaches first the media library, then moves on towards the exhibitions and finally to the artists’ studios. Little incisions in the roof provide controlled natural light, and the glass curtain wall of the entrance oriented in a northwesterly direction allows light to penetrate into the exhibition galleries.
