DESCRIPTION
The response to the competition takes the form of a huge metal veil, stretched over the museum and slightly open at the four corners. This curtain, which diversifies access points, creates an in-between zone and arouses the curiosity of passersby as to what it covers. Depending on the time of day and the season, it creates a whole range of lighting effects, from sparkle to shadow play.
At night, this living structure, which can serve as a giant screen, filters the interior lighting. As for the “hidden object” that visitors think they will discover as they approach, it is concealed behind a glass covering coated with a thin layer of silver. This kind of two-way mirror reflects the image of what covers it, while allowing a glimpse of the silhouettes moving inside the building. At the heart of the building, a large nave houses the most monumental works. Arranged in a circle around it, the exhibition rooms, surrounded by an ambulatory, are designed to offer a variety of possible routes. Finally, this “dematerialized” construction is resolutely oriented towards the city, as evidenced by both the ground floor, which stands out as an autonomous space open to all, and the terrace.
