HERITAGE

The transformation of the Grandes Écuries at the Château de Chantilly, emblem of the horse capital, breathes new life into this 18th-century masterpiece by incorporating it into an ambitious museum vision: telling the story of humanity through the prism of equestrianism.

The program includes a space dedicated to horses (3,240 m²), the restoration of the Manège courtyards (1,250 m²) and the Chenils (2,480 m²), the creation of a theater marquee (2,060 m²) and the Horse Museum (3,500 m²). It will also include a central square with shops and seminar spaces (1,890 m²), administrative offices (1,200 m²), and rental offices (2,010 m²).

DESCRIPTION
The project redefines the heritage of the existing Grandes Écuries and their adjoining courtyards. A monumental staircase stands out as a striking architectural feature: suspended in mid-air, its crossed flights form a sculptural X that reconnects the upper part of the stables. This space, formerly reserved for the riders’ quarters, is once again accessible, reintegrating the vertical dimension into the visitor experience. In the courtyard, a new big top houses the equestrian circus, in line with an overall design that restores the unity of a previously fragmented layout.
