PROGRAMME
Lightwalk is a multimodal hub comprising a new train station, the extension of existing metro stations, and a bus station, all covering an area of 95,000 m². This infrastructure is accompanied by a multitude of programs spread over 72,000 m², such as commercial and office spaces, including coworking spaces, a learning center, art studios, galleries, and workshops. Above ground, the creation of a park provides a new focal point for the Seoul International District. Playgrounds, relaxation areas, cafes, kiosks, facilities, and services complement the vast green spaces.

DESCRIPTION
This architectural gesture marks the epicenter of a gigantic urban hub, connecting multiple modes of transportation: buses, subways, trains, cars, taxis, and bicycles. This large gallery plays a key role in the regeneration of the heart of Seoul, stifled by density, by connecting existing buildings and new constructions. Rooted in the ground, the Lightwalk uses a revolutionary optical instrument that, like a Fresnel lens, diffuses beams of natural light through the different layers of the subsoil. On the surface, a planted promenade and a vast central park connect the neighborhoods while signaling access to the various transport stations.
